Rock River Water Monitoring
Since 2010, FNLC has been taking bi-weely, seasonal water samples of the Rock River, located in the Missisquoi Basin, to measure total phosphorus, dissolved phosphorus, and total suspended solids.
Site map for the Rock River sampling location.
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate water quality improvements from a focused agricultural BMP implementation effort in a small watershed where very high rates of phosphorus loading to Lake Champlain have been documented.
Every two weeks or periods of high flow, a FNLC member collects a water sample to send to the Vermont DEC Laboratory for analysis.
